Two prominent black female politicians, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Florida Rep. Val Demings, are being vetted as a running mate for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
Once considered long shots, POLITICO is reporting Mayor Bottoms and Rep. Demings’, black female politicians, response and presence during the recent nationwide protests propelled them to the top of the list.
Biden has not been shy about his preference of a female running mate, but the widespread condemnation of systematic racism may have shifted his eyes toward a black female. He’s expected to officially announce his running mate in August.
